U.S. golf player Tiger Woods has become, officially, the first athlete in history to earn over one billion dollars, according to Forbes magazine.
The ten million dollars check received by Woods on September 27 after the victory in the FedEx Cup tournament marked the moment when the player’s total revenue from his 13 years of competitive activity exceeded the billion border, says Forbes.
Tiger Woods, aged 33, winner of 14 major tournaments, is widely regarded as the best golfer in history. Since 2002, he is also the best paid sportsman of the planet.
Besides his competitions income, Tiger Woods has substantial incomes from sponsorships and advertising contracts, estimated at about 100 million dollars a year. Among the companies that have contracts with him are included giants such as Nike, which paid him around 32 million dollars each year. The player also offers consulting services (design of trains Course), receiving ten million dollars for each such contract.
