Mercedes Sosa died!

October 4, 2009

Argentine singer Mercedes Sosa, one of the most famous voices of Latin America, died Sunday at the age of 74 years, in a clinic where it was admitted since September 18 this year.
The singer who lived in Europe during the Argentina’s military dictatorship (1976 to 1983) was nicknamed “La Negra”, for her very black and long hair and she became, after returning to his native country, a great figure of folk song throughout Latin America.
Mercedes was a goodwill ambassador for UNESCO in Latin America and the Caribbean. She won the Grammy for best folk album in 2000 ( “Mass criollos”), 2003 ( “Acustico”) and 2006 ( “Corazón Libre”).
