U.S. actor and director Clint Eastwood was awarded by French President Nicolas Sarkozy the French Legion of Honor medal.

The ceremony was held several days ago at Elysee Palace. “It is an honor,” said the actor aged 79 years. Eastwood added: “It is a pleasure for me. I love France, love films and love the appreciation French people have for film.

Napoleon Bonaparte created the French Legion in 1802. It awards people making contributions in terms of military, cultural, scientific or social to France, whether they are French citizens or not.
